This is a relatively new position for me yet what I lack in experience, I make up for with enthusiasm and adaptability. I encourage your thoughts and ideas and understand that this program will continue to grow only through innovative change. We are fortunate to be located in the Metropolitan Detroit area, allowing us to take advantage of the cooperative educational opportunities available in a region with one of the highest concentration of Emergency Medicine residencies in the country. Thus, our trainees are exposed to regional Toxicology Grand Rounds, access to one of the most active EMRAM chapters, Pediatric Emergency Rotations at Children's Hospital of Michigan (one of the top rated pediatric hospitals in the country), and trauma and CICU rotations at Henry Ford Hospitals Main campus.
We are also affiliated with Michigan State University Statewide Campus that coordinates educational opportunities for the Osteopathic Residencies of Michigan. This allows us exposure to national speakers, networking with a community of about 150 EM residents, and exposure to expensive training programs such as Ballistics Labs, Ultrasound Labs, Advanced Airway Labs, Simulation Labs, etc... Our program takes full advantage of these resources.
The success and tremendous growth of this relatively new program is a direct result of the extraordinary efforts of our first program director, Dr. Carla'nne Dukes. Her spirit will continue to guide the personality of this program and through our new affiliation with Henry Ford Hospital we will achieve the level of excellence expected of us by our community, medical staff, and administration.
