Meet the Surgeons

The Henry Ford Macomb Bariatric Surgery Center offers expert, board-certified surgeons who are specially trained in bariatric procedures. They are supported by a highly skilled team of professionals, including bariatric nurses, a registered dietitian, bariatric coordinators/insurance specialists, psychologists and exercise specialists. You will get to know the entire team, as they attend all the informational seminars. Together, we all are committed to providing you with compassionate support and expert care before, during and after your surgery.

Surgeons

Keith Marshall, D.O.
Bariatric Surgeon

Dr. Keith Marshall is a board-certified general surgeon with a special interest and training in Bariatric Surgery. He is the senior bariatric surgeon for the Bariatric Surgery Program at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital-Warren Campus in Warren, Michigan. He was recruited to develop the program which includes a residency training component. He has served as a bariatric surgeon trainer and preceptor for numerous general surgeons seeking open and laparoscopic bariatric training. Additionally, he has trained aspiring bariatric surgeons in endoscopy and plastic surgery techniques as these relate to post-surgical bariatric patients.

After graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with honors, from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, Dr. Keith Marshall attended the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. He completed a residency in General Surgery at Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center in Mount Clemens, Michigan, and a second residency in Urology at the Southeastern Medical Center in North Miami Beach, Florida. He has held the position of Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.


Carl Matthew Pesta, D.O.
Bariatric Surgeon

Dr. Carl Pesta is the medical director of the Bariatric Surgery Program at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital-Warren Campus. He is a board-certified general surgeon with a special interest and training in various bariatric surgical procedures, including open, laparoscopic and lap-band techniques. A private-practice physician, he is a preceptor for residents who are training in bariatric procedures. He was recently named a fellow by the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.

Upon graduation from Michigan State University where he achieved a Bachelor of Science degree, Dr. Pesta attended the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan. He served his internship in Internal Medicine and his residency in General Surgery at Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center in Mount Clemens, Michigan. 


Alfred Schneider, M.D.
Bariatric Surgeon

Dr. Schneider is a board-certified general surgeon specially trained in bariatric surgery. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Schneider has over 22 years of surgical experience, including many years performing both the Roux-en-Y and gastric banding procedures.

Dr. Schneider graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry and attended medical school at Wayne State University. He completed an internship and a surgical residency at Mt. Carmel Mercy Hospital in Detroit. A member of the medical staff at Henry Ford Macomb Hospitals since 1985, Dr. Schneider has served as chairman of the surgery department and is currently Chief of Staff at Henry Ford Macomb.
